Money is Tight

Call it whatever you wish, “economic downturn”, “recession”, “slow economy”; the reality is: “Money is tight!” In our 27 years of doing business, we have seen these conditions come and go. Following are some recommendations for you to help ease the cash flow pinch that a lot of industries are experiencing. Granted, we are repetitious in a lot of our suggestions, but we know that these are measures that work in the long run.

  1. Seriously consider turning over your problem accounts to us, between 90 – 120 days past due. The older the debt gets, the harder it can be to collect.

  2. Create a method of notifying your employees that an account is in collections, and the debtor should not be sold to, even on a COD basis, until the old balance is paid in full. Any contact debtor makes with your company, should be directed back to Rand Associates for handling. If you allow them to ignore us, then we lose our power/authority in collecting.

  3.  Try to eliminate a 3rd party payment situation. If a customer charges something on their account with you, then that customer must be responsible for payment – not ‘their customer’. This creates such a nightmare, especially if it ever goes to trial.

  4.  For your customers that have a ‘slow pay’ history with you, limit their line of credit to a minimum.
It has also been our experience during these “Money is Tight” times that the stories, excuses, and disputes over money owed become more bizarre and “colorful” than during easier times. Please remain open to “settlement” possibilities when we may bring them to you to consider.

These challenges will pass, and, if we can work together, we’ll all come out stronger and more profitable! We thank you for your continued support of Rand Associates.
